Spring Break 2011

This past week was Owen's spring break.  We had a lot of fun together while Owen wasn't at school.  I think he was ready to get back to school this week and see his best friends, Diego and Jose.
At the zoo.
We took the kids roller skating this week.  They were really excited to go even though they didn't really know what it was.
They were really good at skating on the carpet.

Norah was definitely the better skater of the two.  I think it was because she was a lot lower to the ground and didn't have as much weight to try and balance. After the first few times holding her hand she let go and actually did better when we weren't holding on to her.
Mr. Owen Man stuggled a little bit but by the end he was going pretty fast.  He wouldn't let go of my hand but he felt pretty good out there.
Luckily the kids weren't the greatest/fastest of skaters, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to keep up.  I don't think I have been roller skating since high school.
Brandon and Miss Norah.  I think both Brandon and I were a little sore afterwards but it was mostly from holding a 50 lb boy up for 2 hours.

Owen had another soccer game this week.  They played the Jets.  Owen scored 4 goals and they won 6-4.  He leaned over to me during the quarter he had to sit out and said, "My team is really not as good when I have to sit out."  He loves playing and is actually very good at it.

The Circus

We decided to take the kids to the circus.  We got some free kids admissions so off we went.  Neither Brandon or myself has ever been to a circus so we had no clue what to expect.
Dad and Norah watching the show
The circus.  All the lights in the background are from these souvenir lights wands that EVERYONE was buying for the low price of $15 each.  The things people spend money on.
The tightrope walkers.  They were actually pretty cool even though we had a straight on view of them and couldn't see everything they were doing.
Owen and Norah looking on.
These dancers that hung from ropes and did cool tricks.
At intermission they let everyone down to ride the ponies, elephants, and take a picture with a real bear...all at a price.  Brandon splurged and let the kids ride the ponies.  They LOVED it.  Norah loves animals and so she was so excited about it.  That is pretty much all she remembers of the circus.
The Owen Man riding the pony.  He also loved it.
The elephants were preetty cool.  They did some pretty cool tricks for elephants.
Owen loved the motorcycles that went around in this ball.  They got 3 going at a time.  It was pretty cool.
They shot a guy out of a cannon.  There was a lot of hype and then it was over but the kids liked it.
The guy getting shot out of the cannon.

All in all, the circus was pretty fun.  A little overpriced but could have been a lot more pricey had we bought all of the things that everyone else did.  Probably won't go back for a while but we enjoyed ourselves.

Springtime

We have not been missing the Idaho weather these past couple months.  Rarely has it been too cold to go play outside.  My sister told me I was going to turn into a pansy if we move back to Idaho.  We are wearing no jackets and flip flops most of the time.
The kids have put a lot of miles on their bikes already. Owen has gotten pretty daring on his bike-one handed, really fast, with his eyes closed. I keep trying to talk him into taking the training wheels off but he tells me he will when he is 5.
Owen got this remote control truck for Christmas and it still works! Norah loves chasing it and racing it on her bike.

The crash from not holding on. He got right back up though.
