Owen started Kindergarten last Thursday, July 28th. He was really excited to go.
He has 2 teachers: Mrs. Stromberg and Senora Cruz. We signed him up for the Dual Language program so all of his classes in the morning are all in Spanish and then in the afternoon they switch to English. We thought it would be a good idea because he is really smart and would be really bored in Kindergarten. He knows how to read and do lots of math problems already so we thought it might challenge him a little bit.
They have to wear uniforms- khaki, navy, or black pants and navy, light blue, burgundy, or white polo shirts. It made it easy to school shop but not as fun.
When I dropped him off at school I asked him for a hug and he said, "No, I am just going to go play" and he ran off. He is so independent.
Running off to go play
Owen coming out after school was over. He looked at me and smiled and then he kept following his teacher to where she was lining them up. She finally had to tell him that he could go with me. He had a great first day and was really excited to go back.
When we picked him up after school he didn't stop talking for about an hour and a half about school. He loved it. I asked him what he learned in his Spanish class and he just looked at me and said, "Mom, it was in Spanish. I don't know what we learned." They don't speak any English in their Spanish class and no Spanish in their English class.
